2013 Block Grant Programs

Program Overview

Lexington County receives approximately  $1.4 million dollars annually from the US Department of Housing and Urban  Development. This money is used to  implement the Community  CDBGdevelopment Block Grant (CDBG) Program. The CDBG Program provides funds for projects that primarily assist low and moderate-income persons in securing:

  • Decent housing;
  • Suitable living environments;
  • and Expanded economic opportunities.

CDBG funds can be used to build community facilities, roads, parks; to repair or rehabilitate housing; to provide new or increased public services to County residents; or to fund initiatives that generate new jobs.

Lexington County’s CDBG allocation funds projects in all incorporated and unincorporated areas of the County.

To receive assistance from CDBG, every project must meet one of three National Objectives .
