Help Prevent Littering

What You Can Do To Prevent Litter

  • If it’s trash, put it in the trashcan.
  • If it’s recyclable, put it in the recycling bin.
  • Make sure outdoor trash cans have lids than can be securely fastened.
  • If you have curbside trash collection, don't overfill your rollcart or put loose trash in rollcart.
  • If you have curbside recycling, be sure to close rollcart lid to prevent material blowing out. Bust a litterbug
  • Take your trash and recyclables to a Collection and Recycle Center? Secure your load and tarp your truck. It’s not just a good idea; it’s the law.
  • Cigarette butts are litter, too. If you smoke, carry and use a portable or pocket ashtray.
  • Business managers, check dumpsters daily to see that top and side doors are closed. This prevents scavengers from spreading trash around the ground.
