USE OF PUBLIC RECORDS FOR COMMERCIAL SOLICITATION IS PROHIBITED; PENALTY
The South Carolina Family Privacy Protection Act of 2002 prohibits a person or private entity from obtaining or using personal information obtained in covered public records for commercial solicitation.
A knowing violation of the Act carries a penalty of a fine not to exceed five hundred dollars or imprisonment not to exceed one year, or both. S.C. Code Section 30-2-50(D).
