2024 Constitutional Amendment Question
COLUMBIA, SC (August 12, 2024) - The following constitutional amendment question will appear on all ballots in the November 5, 2024 General Election. Please read over the question so you will be familiar with it before casting your vote.
Proposed Constitutional Amendment
Must Section 4, Article II of the Constitution of this State, relating to voter qualifications, be amended so as to provide that only a citizen of the United States and of this State of the age of eighteen and upwards who is properly registered is entitled to vote as provided by law?

2024 Election Calendar
The activities of the Lexington County Commission of Registration and Elections are governed by general state law pertaining to elections. These laws are codified in 1976 SC Code of Laws, Title 7, as amended.
The Lexington County Commission of Registration and Elections was created in 1973 by act of the General Assembly to combine the Commission of Elections and the Registration Board of Lexington County, see Act No. 89, 102SCSTAT(1973).
Reminder:
If you have moved within the county since you previously voted, please make address changes at the Registration and Elections office by completing the on-line change of address form and bring it along with a photo ID with current address, or a utility bill, bank statement or other document that shows your current address to 605 W. Main St, Suite C, Lexington, SC.

State Wide General Election November 5, 2024
IMPORTANT REGISTRATION DATES AND DEADLINES
- The Deadline to register to vote "In Person" is October 4th 5:00 PM
- Deadline to register to vote "Online" is October 6th 11:59 PM
- Deadline to register "By Mail" is post marked by October 7th
Register to vote with a few easy steps!
- You can register to vote online at scVOTES.gov (requires a Driver’s License or DMV ID).
- You can download a voter registration form, complete it, and return it to your county voter registration office by mail, fax, or email.
- You can register in person by visiting your county voter registration office or while receiving services at the DMV and other state agencies.
Already registered? Be sure it’s up to date by checking your voter registration information.
- If you have moved within your county, make sure you are ready to vote by updating your registration.
- If you have moved from one county another, you must register in your new county by the deadline to eligible to vote.

Vote Absentee
If you are not able to Vote Early or on Election Day and you qualify to obtain an Absentee Ballot,
- Request the "Absentee Application" by visiting the Lexington County Voter Registration office or by calling (803) 785-8362/803-785-4925 or the Main Office number (803) 785-8361
- The Deadline for our office to receive a completed "Absentee Applications" (an application must be requested and returned in order to receive a Ballot) is October 25th 5:00 PM
Vote on Election Day
Polling places are open on Election Day from 7:00 a.m. 7:00 p.m.
