Lexington County Animal Services hosts “Home for the Holidays” adoption special

Thu, 12/01/2022

Lexington County Animal Services (LCAS) is hosting an adoption event starting Monday, Dec. 5 that will run until Thursday, Dec. 22, to help all of their adoptable dogs find their forever homes.LCAS Cmas Special Flyer

The LCAS “Home for the Holidays” adoption event pricing is as follows:

Dogs who have been at the shelter for longer than 30 days will be FREE to adopt and all other dogs will have a $20 adoption fee. All of the adoption dogs are up-to-date on their immunizations (including Rabies), spayed/neutered, and had a behavioral assessment so they are ready to find their forever family.

Anyone who is interested in adopting a dog is encouraged to visit the shelter at 321 Ball Park Road in Lexington. All of the shelter staff are very familiar with the dogs that are ready for adoption so they will help you find the perfect dog to fit your family and lifestyle. Adopting a new pet is a significant commitment, and the staff is ready to assist with their knowledge and experience to make sure the adoption is successful.

The shelter also has a “play yard” where you can interact with the dogs. Individuals are encouraged to take advantage of the “play yard” to see if the adoption dog is the right fit for their home. This is an excellent opportunity to have the dog interact with the family or other dogs prior to adoption. LCAS is open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

LCAS hosts adoption events throughout the year in the hopes of finding forever homes for their adoptable animals and preventing overcrowding in their shelter. Over the last year, animal shelters across the nation have seen a significant increase in the number of dogs being housed in shelters.

For LCAS, normal capacity is about 40 dogs that are ready for adoption. As of Nov. 30, there are 70 dogs at the shelter that are ready to find their forever homes.  LCAS believes with the help of the public we can find many of these dogs their permanent homes and create memories with these wonderful animals. If anyone is thinking about adding a pet to their family please consider coming to see what is available at LCAS.
